Spoilers, Man!

I go back and forth about Spoilers.  Sometimes I hate them, sometimes I am okay with knowing what is going to happen.      I think it depends on how invested I am into the thing that I am about to get spoiled on.  Or if I am already sold on the movie and want to see it.  A few examples.      Recently I saw the Venom movie.  It was not that bad.  I am glad I saw it, it was enjoyable, not great, but a good escape for a few hours.  But the Trailers made it look bad.  It was cringeworthy what they choose to show.  They showed the worst parts of the movie.  Like the Motorcycle scenes are the worst of the whole movie.  I could have done with another trailer that shows, and possibly spoiled some of the bigger plot points to get me on board.  Solo is another recent example of the marketing gets in the way of an enjoyable movie.  The trailers decided to show the wrong parts.  They could ...

Are bad digital stewards for our children?

Image
So, I made this Video awhile ago.  I'm going to still post it here.  It it I pose the question of why I see either what looks like first generation immigrant Latino or low-income parents just let their small children bury their noses into devices.  Or just let them do whatever they want.  I will go to these people's house to deliver pizza at like 11 on a Tuesday, and the kids are still up and it just makes no sense.  I talk more about that in the video.  I do not remember if I got to an explanation or not in the video, but I think it might be, as far as first generation immigrants it is more a they do not know better.  As in they came here for a better life, and now they have money and financial stability, or at least more than they ever had.  Since they have never had money, they do not know how to use or keep the money.  They do not know the next step in success.  These kids parents do not value education because they do not have ...

Essential Oils - How ESSENTIAL are they?

Just to start off, I have never liked the name Essential Oils.  The marketing of it just smelled bad from the beginning.  It's like I am missing something without these oils.  The name is deceptive from the start.      So, I have a lot of people that I love and respect that are into these Oils.  I may anger some of them with this post.  I want to say right that I am not attacking these people.  I am attacking the outlandish claims and lies that these products make.  I have always thought that Essential Oils were, I don't want to say fake, but not entirely truthful in their claims.  I just did not have the data to back it up.  Now I do.      Do Essential Oils work?  Yes and no.  Mostly No.  Here is a podcast that explains the science behind it very well.  To summurize, they do work, but only a little bit.  For esample, if you were to imagine your energy level as a per...

Talking about Tipping - In a CAR!!!

Image
Tipping.  It is a real good way to figure out what kind of person someone is.  Are you the type of person that puts 5 $1 down on your table and throughout the meal you start to take away or add money based on how you think you should be served.  (Passive-aggressive A-hole).  Do you tip, but just the bare min.  Like where 3 would be nice, 2 would be okay, you tip $1.25.  Just high enough to get the fake smile from the server.  Or are you someone that understands the plight of the server, and the bills they have to pay, that this cruel instant arbitrary form of performance review is unfair and mean.  You tip 20% or $5, whatever is closer.  You are a nice person.  I like you.  May you have hair where you want and not where you don't.      Now, I know tipping is stupid, but this is the culture norm.  And you are not in the position to be the social warrior that takes up his passive-aggressive cro...

Hot Take - Woman who alleges MTC president raped her is filmed testifying about him in church

Oh boy.  I don't know how to talk about this one without offending someone.  I have just read this news article, and have not gone to other forums to fine tune my thoughts yet, this is a hot take, my opinion may change or become more nuanced, but I wanted to say something, as part of my own process.      In this article , McKenna Denson was training as a missionary in 1984 in Provo, when she alleges Joseph Bishop, the Missionary Training Center’s president at the time, raped her in a basement room. Sunday she went to the home ward of Joseph Bishop, in Fast and Testimony meeting called him out.  There is a video of it on the site    I'm not sure what I fully think here, it is complicated.  The court has dismissed the charges due to statute of limitations.  But her lawsuit against the church is still ongoing.  These things are hard to prove without any evidence after more than 3 decades.      I want to first talk ab...

Videos!!!

Image
I’m going to start posting videos for some of my posts. Sometimes writing takes too long.  I’ll still write, but not as often.     Also, I filmed this in Portrait, so it looks crappy in YouTube, I’ll try to not do that, I hate it too. Sometimes it will have to be in portrait when I’m in the car. So here we go!!!

Explaining Diehard Trump Supporters

I can understand most conservatives that voted for Trump. It’s the diehards I sometimes have a problem with. The ones that still believe, or ever have believed the lies and blatant spin that comes from him and his administration.  Most conservatives I talk to can admit that Trump is the worse, but we got caught up in the scare of the big bad wolf that was Hillary.  All of us conservatives now have to take our turn at the poop buffet for our part in putting in this blowhard in office.      It’s the ones that cannot admit that Trump has ever been wrong or give some long winded explanation of what Trump actually meant when he calles someone a fat pig on Twitter. The ones that listen to Alex Jones and Sean Hannity and start to nod their heads in agreement instead of shaking their heads in unbelief.  These are the crazy ones. These are the dangerous ones. Usually they are the older generation.     I found this comment on a tread about Trump (surprise...

How it ends - Netflix Movie

I usually don't go to Netflix for movies.  Series is where is it at for them.  Why have 2 hours of content when you can have 11.  This was recommended from a podcast I listen to called the Morning Stream, I'll probably talk more about that later.  I had seen this movie pop up automatically like it does when you first start up Netflix.  It looked good, but Netflix's quality control when it comes to movies is spotty at best.  Anyone remember the Cloverfield Paradox?  Originally it was called God Particle, but Paramount realized that it sucked, retooled it to be a Cloverfield movie and sold it to Netflix.  So, that is where my expectations laid when I started this movie.        I am going to spoil the movie, so if at any point of my summary, you feel like you want to watch without spoils, skip the rest.  I'll tell you now, I did like this movie, up to the very end, I'll explain later.     ...

Lost in Space - Netflix reboot

Image
This is one of the shows that we had decided that might be safe for the whole family to watch.  And it mostly is.  It is a bit too intense for Lela, she has decided to watch something on her own with headphones.  What is funny is this is her choice, she knows it scares her, so she decides to not partake.  Smart girl.  Bad Parent?  Maybe.  Evie likes it a lot.  I kinda like it.  It looks real good in 4k, the special effects for the most part are real good. The first few episodes are real good.  I like the situations that the Robinson family gets into, problem shows up, they solve it with logic and science, another problem, solve, that solution fails, try again, then explore a bit, and another problem.  I like that kind of stuff with my sci-fi.  Then (SPOILERS AHEAD, Will Robinson!!) they find more people, and then it turns into any other TV show with drama with tropey characters.  There's the douchey alpha-male leader guy t...

Lets be relevant, for once

Image
Lets get those pageviews, yo. Well, if it did not take me so long to figure out how to get my feelings down on digital ink... Here are some of my thoughts on Avengers: Age of Ultron I just saw it tonight.  Yes, I am aware it is Monday.  (I watched this on the 3rd, two days after the premier, took me awhile to actually get this review written.) Yes, I am aware that it came out on Thursday at midnight.  No, you cannot have my nerd card.  I will prove my worthiness to keep it by complaining about a comic book movie.  Online even.... Getting Ready To prepare myself, I did not watch any of the many trailers and ads that were posted in the past few months leading up to the release.  I saw the first one, and that was enough to sell me on it.  I feel that trailers lately have been spoiling too much about a movie.  I wanted to go into this movie as blind as I could, so I could be surprised.  Well, as surprised as I could be, b...

Furious 7 - Or, Bro, do you even Plot?

Image
Before I get too far.  I DID like this movie.  Not love, but really liked it.  If you liked the past….6, then you really do not even need to continue reading.  You have already seen it.  You have already got “sand” in your eye at the end of the movie, you big man machine that you are.  This movie is fun, as long as you turn off your brain.  The part of your brain that knows about logic, proper plot, and physics. We are going to spoil some of the...cough, plot.  Which is okay.  You have already watched it, or weren’t going to anyway. Are you ready, BRO.  Track Day, BRO!!!  BRO!!!!      I was not ready for this movie.  I came to the theater with all my mental faculties fully functional.  This is not what one does when you go to this, the 7th movie in the Car movie franchise that turned into what the Expendables wanted to be.  It took me a long time to get into th...

Thoughts on the new Batman V Superman Trailer

Image
Before we go any further, you need to watch this trailer if you have not already yet. Don't complain, just be cool man.... Okay, now we can talk. This has been very interesting to watch on the Internet all the different reactions to this trailer. Usually you when you show a trailer, you get one of two responses. 1.) Variations on "Duuuuude!!!!" "Whoah Duuuuude!!" or "Meh, it looks good." or a shrug of the shoulders, and then a nod of approval. 2.) "That will suck" "meh" or no reaction at all. With this trailer though, we have a few more reactions, in addition to those. It has sparked an online debate. Not a debate on what the story is going to be about. But whether it is going to suck or not. The places of debate for this movie has turned into a hostile place. This is nerd fandom at it's worst. Us nerds (I have been guilty of this at times as well.) need to all settle down. We need to sit down and realize ho...

Hello, hellllloo, helllo, hello, hello....

Where have I been? I have not posted awhile, I know.  I am going to make it a goal to be consistent in my posting.  I am not sure that anyone is ever going to read these, but I need to do it for me.  I need to get some of these ideas, whether they suck or not, out.  I will help me in getting my opinions out, and help me in my argument skills. A bit of House keeping.  I know that the images on some of the sites are missing.  I do not know what happened there.  I am not sure I am going to fix them anytime soon.  I will get to it later, so, sorry. So, as a reminder to me, and you of what this blog is about.  This blog is about the random things that I want to post about, nothing too big, links to cool things and pics.  I might turn it into a TL;DR version of some of the coolest and most interesting things on the web, and my life right now, we will see how that goes. Now, I have another blog, Shower Thoughts, is more of a place to put bi...

Apple meh Watch

Image
(the pictures are not working right now, I might go back an fix them, maybe) I am an apple fanboy.  I have alway been Team Apple.  Most of the time I am totally on board what ever they do.  Big iPhone?  Yeah sure, I can see why someone would like that.  Macbook Air, so want one.  Siri on Mac OS X?  Sure, why not, she still is not as cool as we want her to be, but whatever.  Apple Watch?  eh, no.  Apple tends to do release things that you are like, I did not know that I needed this thing, but now I NEED it in my life.  That is what the iPad did for me.  I don’t see this with the Apple Watch, I could be wrong, but even though I did not see the practical reason for a $500 iPad, but I still wanted one.  I have no desire to have an Apple watch.  It is an Apple first. Still need your phone. You still need to have your phone on you to make it work.  Well, it will still give you the t...

I am a cheap Gamer

Image
I really don't play video games anymore.  Not in the tradional sense.  I watch other people play games on Youtube.  Yep, I don’t play anymore.  I watch.   Why? Games are Expensive. I do not have as much money as I used to have to spend on games.  Having kids will do that.  I have only 2 games that I like to play anymore.  I still love Skyrim, 200+ hours in.  And Diablo 3.  That is it. Side note - The last game that I bought was not worth the money.  Destiny.  I wanted to like this game Oh, Tried so hard to like this game.  And that is a problem.  You should not have to try to like a game.  It just happens, that is why you play a game, because the fun is built in.  Sometimes the game will trick you, Like World of Warcraft, at first it was fun, but a year or two you realize you just spent the last 2 hours harvesting spider-somethings for part one of a 5 part mission to ge...

Can you ruin a Grilled Cheese Sammie?

Image
I used to think that you could.  I had this debate with Julie recently.  She likes to put lunch meat and miracle whip in hers.  .........hold on a min while I throw up in my mouth a little.     I once thought grilled cheese is one thing.  Grilled Bread, (whiter the better, you racist) and cheap cheese.  The beauty is in the simplicity of it all.  And it is easy, You have to really suck at making food, I would not call this cooking, it is heating up ingredients and smashing them together.  But then I had a look at this site. I'll wait while you have look at it.  I will just be sitting here looking at something on reddit, or something. http://www.grilledcheeseacademy.com/ It's like your opinion, man...      Like, seriously, did you have a look at some of those?  Dat Hotlanta doh...it's like a double down, but not sad. They all look good, in their own I'm a special and unique snowfl...

Bored? Need something to read on the ToTuo?

R U Awake? i am now....

Image
I hate getting a message or a phone call at night.  It is even worse now that we have a bright lcd screen that assalts the eyes in the middle of the night.  It used to be that you could just lazily grab the phone, while you are still lying in bed, bring the the receiver to the side of your head, maybe finding the ear, "ehhhha?"    Now, I acually have to move my arm and look at the screen, see if it is a message or a phone call.  You now know who is on the other end.  Now starts the debate in your cobweb filled head of whither or not you will answer it.  I hate you so much right now.  You are making me use upper brain function when I am suppose to be fighting Pretzel Monkeys with a sword made of grilled cheese sandwiches.  But, no, I have to deal with your problems.  The one time I would prefer old tech than what we have now.    "R U Awake?"  "yes..., and barricade your house and body, cuz..., im gonna turn a...

$1.87 gas. Ha. $1.87 gas. Wow. I did not think I would ever see it go down this far, ever.  When I started driving, it was $1.29. Then it jumped up quickly after that. Let's get it down, we can do it. Drill baby Drill!!! I guess I can't get mad at the 5 big tonka trucks (non-diesel) left on at the gas station while they get thier Mountain Dew. Cause these prices are only going to keep on going down... For those that are interested in reading some more and are wondering why the gas is so low now, and what it is going to happen to the economy, head to this link .  This whole thing is good for America, but super bad for Russia, and in the longterm, is bad for the middle east if this continues.  Looking at this, it might actually may be a way to fix the middle east.  Look for a shower thought post explaining my crazy theory.

First!!!...Do I win a Prize?

Image
What is this?     I was looking on Facebook.  I noticed that most people do not post anything significant.  A link here.  A low res photo of a poorly thought out political stance here.  A Vaugebook Post here.  Now, don't get me wrong, I don't really have a problem with all that.  I kinda like seeing these posts.  It lets me know a bit about who you are.  Even if I do not agree or laugh at your post, I still want to see it.  It is sometimes a social experiment.  I like to see how long it will take from when I see something on Reddit, and then see it on Facebook.  It is also interesting to see how uninformed some people about the issues around them.  Just because it somewhat aligns with their political leanings, they will post it without thinking about what it actually says (Obama is LITERALLY Hitler?).  Keep on posting these, they are entertaining. Your "Likes" Matter? But, I noticed something else as...
